Q&A: Another Little World

Salon and retailer based in the heart of Somerset.

We are proud to be stocked by and used in the treatments at Another Little World, a boutique salon which has a holistic approach to beauty and believes the benefits of using natural and organic products. Another Little World was founded by Carly back in 2010, after years of working in the beauty sector Carly wanted to combine her knowledge of the industry with her attention to detail to create an immersive salon experience. We caught up with Carly to find out a little more about the mind behind the business.

How did you get into the beauty industry?

I left school not really knowing what I wanted to do; I did a year of admin within a plumbing company but got pushed into a different direction when they closed the business. I decided I would try beauty therapy, to be honest I wasn’t sure where it would take me, but it has turned out to be the best blessing in disguise! After completing my NVQ 2 and 3 I was lucky enough to get a job within the industry in a local salon where I worked for 7 1/2 years and gained a wealth of experience. But I knew that I wanted to do things differently and create a full experience, instead of just providing a treatment, this inspired the beginnings of Another Little World which was created over 7 years ago and it’s been an incredible journey.

What is your favourite beauty treatment?

I LOVE skin! Being able to help to physically change and improve a client’s skin and confidence through treatments and education is very rewarding, and it’s a pleasure to be a part of their journey.

What is your Favourite flower?

Peonies are my go to flower, I always dress mine with lots of green foliage.

Favourite drink?

Day time, Kombucha (a sparkling living tea which is packed full of anti-oxidants and probiotics which are highly beneficial for ensuring you maintain a healthy gut). Night time, G&T, but it has to be served with a complimenting garnish, tonic and ice, it makes all the difference!

Do you collect anything?

Not intentionally but I have a ‘bad’ habit of collecting magazines, there’s always articles I like to read through again or share with our clients. With a love of interior, I often find inspiration in my favourite Elle Decoration.

What’s your favourite shop?

This is tricky; Ryder and Hope in Lyme Regis and Hay are just a couple of shops I find myself needing at least one of everything in! I have been drawn to interior design since a young age, and the effortless, industrial, Scandinavian feel these shops emit gets me every time.

Who inspires you?

My Mum and Dad.

How do you like to switch off and relax?

I’d start the day with yoga, ensure I get plenty of fresh air, and spend time laughing with loved ones.
