What is a Serum?

A serum is usually a liquid or gel substance containing high concentrations of active ingredients which are able to penetrate deeper into the skin surface due to a smaller molecular structure. They are a lighter weight than a moisturiser. They can target specific skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, redness, fine lines and wrinkles. They can protect your skin from the impact of daily living.

What is the difference between a Day and Night Serum?

The active ingredients make the functions of these serums different, helping with specific skin concerns.

Does a serum replace a moisturiser?

No. Due to the differences of the molecular structure of these products, one does not replace the other but work in harmony to compliment each other for maximum results. A serum has smaller molecules so that the active ingredients such as Niacinamide, Magnesium, Hyaluronic acid and Vegan Collagen can absorb quickly and deeper into the skin to help specific skin concerns. A moisturiser has larger molecules which means it sits more on the surface of the skin helping to seal in the moisture to create a soft and protective layer.

At which stage should I introduce a serum into my skincare regime?

You can introduce a serum when you notice the first signs of ageing or are concerned about a specific skin concern that your moisturiser may not be fulfilling totally. Combining your serum and moisturiser can provide a more satisfactory and longer lasting effect.
