Bramley X The Great British Beauty Clean Up

Bramley X The Great British Beauty Clean Up

This March, Bramley are proud to join The Great British Beauty Clean Up Campaign, with the Sustainable Beauty Coalition, alongside a host of retailers and beauty brands. The campaign aims to significantly reduce the waste created by the beauty Industry and to inspire our customers to be a force for positive change with a call to refill, reuse and recycle.

The beauty industry produces over 120 billion units of packaging globally, of which 86% of plastic beauty packaging is not recycled.

The Great British Beauty Clean Up is focussed on increasing industry and consumer awareness and adoption of reuse and refill schemes, as well as increasing recycling rates of beauty empties through take-back schemes.

One of the main challenges is to highlight the fact that a staggering 56% of people don’t recycle empties placed in their bathroom bins. If you have empty beauty packaging at home that can’t easily be recycled, you can use the British Beauty Council's map to pin point ‘take back’ schemes near you.

Our Mission

Bramley was originally created when founder Chloë couldn't find bathroom products that were made without synthetic ingredients or single use plastic, so, she created her own – blending natural formulations into recyclable, refillable bottles. That commitment to reducing waste is still at the heart of our business in a number of ways, helping you to tread more lightly:

REDUCE

We aim to reduce single-use packaging wherever possible. We are proud to have pioneered the introduction of refillable products into the hospitality industry many years ago, and today offer our customers refill options across nearly all of our home, skin and body care products, including our innovative biodegradable refill pouches. We’re proud that our refill initiatives have saved over 30 tonnes of plastic to date.

REUSE

Our bottles can be infinitely refilled through our refill options and we also consider how customers can upcycle all elements of our packaging. Our candle jars make handy pen holders, and our beautifully illustrated Tents or Cottages make perfect playhouses for little one’s favourite toys or to organise keepsakes. The recycled ribbon used across our gift sets are perfect to save for finishing touches on gifts, and on our Christmas gift sets we purposefully added little cut-out guides to the inside of the packaging to allow gift tags to be made from them.

RECYCLE

We strive to use post-consumer recycled plastic wherever we can. Our glass and plastic bottles, aluminium bottles and tubes, bottle caps and FSC card are all 100% recyclable. A small number of our spritz or serum pumps are not currently recyclable. We are constantly reviewing packaging options and looking to find an eco-friendly alternative, but encourage you treat these as one-time purchase and refill them, or take them to ‘take-back’ scheme.

This March, make the pledge to consider your beauty consumption and empties, and collectively we can make a difference.
