Don't you think there's something wonderfully rebellious about leaving the lawnmower in the shed?
For years we've been taught that a "good" garden is neat and tidy. Closely cropped grass. Perfect edges. But lately, a different kind of beauty has been quietly blooming. One filled with clover, dandelions, buttercups and bees lazily drifting from flower to flower in the spring sunshine.
Welcome to No Mow May
Led by the wonderful conservation charity Plantlife, the campaign encourages people to stop mowing their lawns during May and let wildflowers grow freely, creating tiny havens for pollinators and wildlife. And the beauty of it? You don't need a sprawling meadow or a countryside estate to take part. Even the smallest patch of grass can make a difference.
At Bramley, this movement feels incredibly close to our hearts. We are incredibly proud to partner with Plantlife, supporting their vital work to protect wildflowers, plants and pollinators through selected product sales. It's a partnership rooted in a shared belief that even the smallest actions can help nature flourish again.

Our world has always been rooted in botanicals. From lavender to rose geranium to uplifting grapefruit, soothing camomile and wild mint. The plants, flowers and herbs we work with everyday are not just ingredients to us; they are reminders of how deeply connected we are to nature and how much wellbeing can come from simply slowing down and noticing the world around us.
Pollinators are at the very centre of that story
Without bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, many of the plants we rely on simply wouldn't exist. Yet habitats are disappearing rapidly, with the UK having lost huge areas to wildflower meadows over the last century. No Mow May is such a simple, joyful way to help reverse that, turning ordinary gardens into places buzzing with life again.
There's also something beautifully nostalgic about it. The moment you stop mowing, your garden starts to change. Tiny daisies appear, dandelions glow golden in the morning light, clover pops up between grass, quickly becoming a feast for bees. Suddenly, what once looked "messy" starts to feel alive again.

You begin to notice things differently too
The hum of insects. The movement of long grass in the breeze. The smell of warm earth after the rain. Birdsong seems enhanced when the garden is left a little wilder. It's a gentle reminder that nature doesn't need perfection, it just needs space.
And if you'd like to go a step further, there are so many beautiful ways to make your garden, balcony or windowsill even more pollinator-friendly this season. Here are a few of our favourites:
- Lavender: endlessly calming, wonderfully fragrant and adored by bees
- Camomile: soft, daisy-like blooms with a beautifully soothing scent
- Cornflowers: vivid blue flowers that bring instant cottage-garden charm
- Clover: this is not a weed! It's one of the best nectar sources for bees
- Rosemary & Thyme: brilliant for pollinators and summer cooking
- Sunflowers: joyful, sunny and perfect for little ones to grow

We often talk about Botanical Magic™, that feeling that nature gives us when we pause long enough to notice it. That's just what No Mow May is all about. Not just helping bees, not just growing flowers, but reconnecting with the rhythms of the natural world again.
So this may, perhaps the loveliest thing you can do for your garden is... absolutely nothing at all!
