We’d love to hear the story behind Wolf Wood Treehouses. What inspired you to create a retreat so deeply rooted in nature?
There is something almost magical about being in the forest, which is reflected in folklore and fairy tales throughout time. There’s a sense of mystery but also tranquillity. Sam and I both enjoy designing and creating spaces that are comfortable, stylish and that connect to nature – a feeling of indoor/outdoor living. And, who doesn’t love a treehouse? Bringing all these elements together into an experience we can share with guests felt like the perfect fit for us. We feel very lucky to be doing something we love.
How does the experience of staying at Wolf Woof reflect a connection to nature and the British countryside?
We spent about a year searching for the perfect site. Wolf Wood (Wolf coming from the name of the river that our small stream is a tributary to) is a 13-acre woodland deep in the rolling countryside of Devon, with far-reaching views to Dartmoor National Park. Each treehouse is nestled high in the woodland canopy, ensuring guests are in amongst the treetops but not over-shadowed by the trees, striking a balance between immersion and elevation. A truly uplifting experience.
What particular touches make a stay at Wolf Wood feel magical?
Large, private decks with hot tubs (two of the treehouses also have a private sauna and outdoor shower) encourage guests to spend time outside, but in absolute luxury, surrounded by the tree canopy with the sounds of rustling leaves and birdsong. Woodland trails meander around the different environments – our wildlife pond, along the stream where guests may spot a kingfisher, and through the woods past Grandmother Oak Tree. Picnic benches with fire bowls and a bench overlooking the pond give guests a variety of places to sit and take in the surroundings. In the Spring, the woodland boasts a carpet of bluebells interspersed with primroses, celandines and wild orchids. Many of our guests have been lucky enough to see a vixen and her cubs. Every guest is given a welcome hamper full of lovely local artisan goodies.
Sustainability and a love of nature are central to both Wolf Wood and Bramley. Could you tell us about the eco practises you're proud of?
One of our founding principles is to offer a luxury holiday experience whilst having a minimal environmental impact – we firmly believe both are possible. We continuously strive to reduce the carbon footprint of Wolf Wood Treehouses whilst investing in renewable energy solutions in order to become carbon neutral. For example, our 104 solar panels mean we produce most of our own electricity.
We maintain and improve the diversity of flora and fauna in the woodland. We also aim to have a positive impact on our local community – supporting local suppliers and tradespeople, and investing in local charities.
As acknowledgment of our sustainability, we are proud to have achieved a Gold Green Tourism Award for the last 5 years.

What feeling do you hope guests take home with them, long after the last birdsong or dip in the hot tub?
We hope that guests leave Wolf Wood feeling relaxed and rejuvenated but also that they feel a deeper connection to nature and maybe even a fundamental shift in their appreciation of the natural environment. We also hope they leave with a burning desire to come back – and so many of our customers do!
