How To Make the Most of the Summer Solstice
By Emily Aitcheson, Luna Circle
The Summer Solstice is almost upon us, offering a beautiful opportunity to pause, reflect and celebrate the height of the season.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the Solstice marks the astronomical beginning of summer and has been honoured by communities around the world for thousands of years. It is a moment steeped in history, symbolism and connection to the natural world.
The word solstice comes from the Latin meaning "sun standing still", the point in the year when we experience the longest day and shortest night. It is a celebration of light, abundance and all that is flourishing around us.
Whether you're drawn to ancient traditions, time spent outdoors or simple moments of quiet reflection, there are many meaningful ways to mark this special turning point in the year.
Visit an Ancient Site or Stone Circle
From the iconic sunrise gathering at Stonehenge in Wiltshire to the quieter beauty of Avebury, Stanton Drew in Somerset or Castlerigg in Cumbria, visiting an ancient site can be a powerful way to connect with centuries of Solstice celebrations. Wherever you choose, the atmosphere is sure to feel magical.

Welcome the Sunrise or Sunset
Whether you're naturally up with the dawn chorus or prefer the golden glow of an evening sunset, taking a moment to witness the changing light can be a simple yet meaningful Solstice ritual. Pause, breathe deeply and soak up the energy of the season.
Take a Mindful Walk in Nature
Leave your phone behind and immerse yourself in the abundance of midsummer. Notice the scent of wildflowers, the hum of insects, birdsong in the trees and the richness of the landscape around you. Nature is at its most vibrant at this time of year.

Make Time to Journal
Find a quiet corner, a favourite garden bench or a shady spot beneath a tree. Reflect on the first half of the year, what has blossomed, what you've learned and what you would like to invite into the months ahead. The Solstice is a wonderful time to set fresh intentions.
However you choose to celebrate the Summer Solstice this year, may it offer a chance to slow down, reconnect with yourself and embrace the abundance of the season.

Celebrate With Us
We're delighted that Emily Aitcheson, founder of Luina Circle, will be leading our Women's Solstice Circle at the Bramley Bath Shop on Monday 22nd of June. Emily's work combines movement, mindfulness and wellbeing practises designed to help people reconnect with themselves and create space for meaningful reflection.
There are currently just two tickets remaining, so if you'd like to continue the solstice celebrations in the company of like-minded women, we'd love for you to join us for an evening of connection, reflection and a little Botanical Magic™.
