As the days begin to stretch a little longer, hedgerows soften into green, and the first blossoms appear, we invite you to slow down, open the windows, and bring a little of the outdoors in.
With both Mother's Day and Easter approaching, it feels like the perfect moment to spend an afternoon creating something thoughtful by hand. Nothing elaborate, just small, simple crafts inspired by the beauty of the season.
Blossom Decorations
If you're lucky enough to have blossom nearby, a few fallen branches can make the most delicate seasonal decoration. Place them in a simple jug or glass jar and hang small hand-painted eggs, ribbons or dried flowers from the twigs. The effect is wonderfully light and airy.

Pressed Flower Cards
A handmade card always carries a little more meaning. On a quiet walk, collect small flowers or leaves and press them between the pages of a book for a few days. Once dry, they can be carefully arranged onto a blank card with a small note written inside. A thoughtful gesture for Mother's Day that feels bot personal and timeless.

Natural Egg Dyeing
For a softer, more natural take on Easter decorating, try dyeing eggs using ingredients from the kitchen or garden. Onion skins create warm amber tones, turmeric produces golden yellow, beetroot offers a gentle blush pink. The colours are subtle and beautifully imperfect, each egg slightly different from the last. You can also create your own botanical inks. Take a look at a when we spoke to artist, Flora Wallace, here, and learn to create your own ink at home.

A Moment Together
Perhaps the loveliest part of these simple crafts is the time spent making them. A quiet afternoon around the kitchen table, the scent of fresh flowers nearby, and the promise of warmer days ahead.
Spring reminds us that small, thoughtful moments often bring the greatest sense of comfort, whether it’s creating something by hand, sharing time with family, or simply welcoming the new season as it slowly unfolds.
