Molly Mahon is a British block printer with a design studio in Sussex. Inspired by the surrounding countryside where she lives with her family and the colours of Rajasthan her designs are joyful and uplifting. That’s why we chose to collaborate with Molly to design our Bramley washbags. She created the iconic Bramley fern print specifically for us. We caught up with Molly to get to know a little more about her.
How did you get in to the block printing industry?
I have always been creative and love a workshop. I suppose I was searching for my creative outlet, but since I first put block to fabric on a block printing course, I have been hooked and never looked back!
What’s your favourite pattern?
Gosh that’s tricky, I do love the designs where I include a star - it makes them feel so jolly.
For Molly there was one clear choice - Peonies.
Coffee, always organic! With Molly’s block printing courses, trips to her printers in India on top of running her own business and managing three children we can certainly see why.
What do you collect?
Books! I have a real weak spot and struggle to walk past a book shop without popping in.
What’s your favourite shop?
Petersham Nurseries – Which seems to be a firm favourite within the Bramley Family, it’s clear that a love of flowers is a common bond shared by all of our collaborators.
Who inspires you?
Gosh SO many people, I suppose right now it’s all the great designers who have managed to make a success with their fabric collections.
How do you like to switch off and relax?
In my garden studio, radio 4 on in the background, printing a length of fabric.
Where is your favourite place or holiday destination?
The Isle of Mull, Scotland, it’s my happy place.
What can’t you live without?
Pictured above: our very own Bramley print designed for us, by Molly. Our washbags have been so popular that we will be using the print for more exciting accessories that are launching soon. You can shop for this product here...
