Bramley's Top 3 Sustainable New Year’s Resolutions for 2021

1. Minimise waste in your home

Focus on one area of your home; the bathroom would be a great place to start.
A survey suggested that in the UK, only 50% of bathroom waste is recycled, compared to 90% of kitchen waste (Tap Warehouse, 2019).

Being a bath & body brand, we must take some responsibility for these shocking statistics and think about the products and materials we offer you. Avoiding single-use plastic is a key priority for us, and we’re excited to now have 250ml glass bottles in our range. We offer our products in bulk sizes so that bottles can be refilled. Where plastic is used, it is 100% recyclable, and biopolymer, meaning sugarcane is used in the manufacturing process rather than fossil fuels.

2. Swap disposable face masks for fabric ones

It is estimated that 51% of the UK population are still using single-use masks, with over 1.6 billion of them being sent to landfill every month (Environmental Journal, 2020).

WEAR IT. WASH IT. REUSE IT. Our Molly Mahon X Bramley Cotton Face Masks are made from a soft cotton that has been block printed with our exclusive Molly Mahon design in the UK. Elasticated ear loops allow the mask to be easily put on and removed. They are light, breathable, washable at 90 degrees and reusable. For every mask sold, we are donating £1 to charities helping to fight plastic pollution.

If you have to wear a medical-grade face-covering, the RSPCA encourages people with disposable masks to "snip the straps" after use to prevent animals from getting caught in them. This is just a small way we can work together to preserve our beautiful British countryside and wildlife during these uncertain times.

3. Start carbon offsetting

Using hot water, cooking our food, using aeroplanes, driving to work, and online shopping all emit carbon emissions and sometimes these actions can not be avoided. But, we can ensure that those actions are carbon neutral by recapturing those emissions by planting trees, maintaining rainforests, re-fertilising the oceans or investing in carbon capture technology. All of these methods are carbon negative – they take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

You can now offset the carbon footprint of your Bramley purchase with Greenr. Simply tick the option to add £1 to your order and Greenr will offset the emissions of your shop via one of their reforestation, borehole or fuel-efficient stove projects.

At Bramley we are proud of everything we do to create a more sustainable way of life and have made huge steps to ensure our products are eco-friendly. But we will never be complacent; we aren’t perfect, we know it’s a journey, but we can assure you we are committed to choosing the most eco-option wherever we can.

Here's to a happier and healthier 2021!
